This is not the only thing which get Desis shocked. Other things are:

1. A man marrying girl elder than him
2. A man marrying widow / divorcee
3. List goes on, just visit life1

However, this is really pathetic to be reacting over a man who is marrying a woman, elder than him. Prophet Mohammad P.B.U.H. is the best example of such an action. The customs where a girl’s family is hesitant to propose a boy or where the girl is elder than the boy are really pitying!!

Our Prophet Mohammad P.B.U.H married Bibi Khadija R.A who sent the proposal to Him P.B.U.H. The age of Prophet Mohammad P.B.U.H was 25 and Bibi Khadija R.A 40 at the time of their marriage.
