Desi people

Re: Desi people

WHO is a HO! :hehe:

Re: Desi people

LMAO literally... WHO is a joke. :)

Re: Desi people

what are you implying by saying ‘beeches!’ ?? :hmmm:

Re: Desi people

Why are white people more prone to glaucoma?

Re: Desi people

Rather than just come out with a** knee-jerk reaction** avoiding the discussion and taking to the white people.. try finding out the facts for yourself and check out the links for more info…

Re: Desi people

On side there is scientific PROOF. Which is reinforced by organisations and studies conducted from OTHER entities than WHO.

Desis have higher diabetes. Fact of life.

To nullify someone else's position one has to give scientific evidence as well, calling it a joke does not make it untrue. :D

Re: Desi people

Guys, why get so worked up over this?

It has indeed been studied and South Asians along with a few other ethnicities (Latino and Aboriginal - at least in Canada) are more prone to developing Diabetes, HTN and CVD. For this reason precisely the waist circumference cut off is lower for these population groups because abdominal obesity is an indicator of all the conditions I mentioned earlier. It may very well be a combination of genetics, life style and diet - but at the end of the day we do have an increased risk so we should be more careful.

Re: Desi people

Can you name any of those ‘worst’, ‘most unhealthy diets’ ?

Re: Desi people

I'm no medic but I would presume the high content of oil, fat etc in our diets contributes to that?

We eat rather unhealthy but tasty food :)

Re: Desi people

Korma(saturated with oil), all kinds of desi sweets, dishes like nihari etc Basically everything contains too much oil, too many fats and is unhealthy through and through.

Re: Desi people

I asked BarBQue and IceSoul replied. Is it the same person :hmmm:

BTW, these are not un-healthy foods, its the way they are prepared in popular eateries that make them unhealthy. It’s not necessary to put extra oil in Korma and nehari, if prepared properly with clean cooking oil, they are not unhealthy at all.

Re: Desi people

Grow up Nomi, just because u wish something wasn't true doesn't mean it's not happening..

By being in denial of facts you're just making yourself look a fool..

Re: Desi people

did i call you a fool ever?? can't u stop with personal attacks??

Re: Desi people

My mother is diabetic and I heard with my own ears doctor saying that South Asian communities in UK are more prone to developing diabetics than any other ethnicity. The reason is not exactly our food; its our heavy diet combined with Western lifestyle (where everyday heavy physical activities are next not existent) which makes us vulnerable to developing diabetics.

Re: Desi people

Since almost everybody prepares them the unhealthy way, you are merely arguing upon technicalities.
