I grew up in the South where winters are not very cold. That being said…2nd week of December I’ll be in Colorado for a desi formal event. I assume it’ll be VERY cold there…maybe some snow?
Usually with salwar kameez, churidaars etc…I wear open toed strappy heels. For those of you used to dressing in desi formal clothing in COLD weather…what type of shoes do you wear when it’s VERY cold? Do you still wear open toed shoes or does that look insane?

closed toed flats, or even those pointy heels are okay most of the time with desi outfits, really depends on what you're wearing though. I see people wearing strappy sandals too though and its quite alright as you pry wont be outside in the snow for long and watever the occasion, its pry indoors.

Well mostly in the winter, when its just cold I do wear sandals when im going to step in the car and get in the warm place and not come out. When it is slippery or very cold or snowing to sometimes I wear Pumps totally closed ones OR with some shalwar kamez even ankle boots look really nice too!

I know this is bad but what I do is wear my boots until I get to the door of the banquet hall. Someone will drop the ladies off at the door and I just change into my pretty shoes right there.

Reha, not sure why that is considered bad. during snow even for work people wear snow boots ..my fav ones being the LLBeans or doc martens, and then change into regular shoes at work. completely acceptable.

I usually wear pumps [open-toed, sling-back, or regular].

Just bring along your strappy shoes, and put them on once you're indoors. Simple.

no shame Reha. Not only do I need those warm shoes but I need those socks till the very last minute!!!! SNOW SUCKS!!!

I'm a little against wearing flats b/c I'm very short. But it's good to know that other wear the strappy heels or just change. I think I'll take my strappy heels and change once indoors. :)

I don't know because i'm from the south and even on new years eve when I'll be in ny, and standing in a line for a bit in the freezing cold waiting to get in i still wear my strappy shoes, most of the time they are closed toed and a i wear nude stockings to kinda help warm me up.
if i were you i'd realize that you're not going to be outdoors much, so just wear your normal pretty shoes and be brave :)
