A robber posed as a woman in a burka to get past staff at a jeweller’s in Greater Manchester.
The man used the disguise to get into Capri Jewellers on Benson Street, Bury, on Wednesday afternoon.
As soon as he was buzzed in he let in three other men, one armed with a gun, and they stole a large amount of jewellery before escaping.
Detectives said the robbery showed “detailed planning” and are appealing for information.
Det Con Chris Jameson, of Bury CID, said: "The store has very tight security so the ruse used to gain entry shows a level of detailed planning and I want to hear from anyone who may have overheard the gang preparing for this robbery.
"I would also urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of the getaway car or who may have been approached with a view to buying the stolen items to call police.
“All information will be treated in strict confidence.”
**The man dressed as a woman is described as Asian, over 6ft and of thin build.
The getaway driver is Asian, in his early 20s and of chubby build. He was bald and wearing glasses.
The other three offenders are Asian and were wearing balaclavas.**
The gang left behind two canvas holdalls that were branded “Wei Bao”.

its silly to couple this with the islamophobic bans on burqas. they could just have effectively used masks, and I dont see a big political movement to ban those.
let us be clear. banning burqas is islamophobic and has nothing to do with securing jewellery stores.

A lot of the objection to burqa has more to do with pro-feminism than Islamaphobism.
People aren't allowed to run around in ski masks either (except on ski slopes!) because they are used to hide identity for nefarious purposes like terrorism and robbery.
Desis and Pakistanis in particular keep shooting themselves in the cultural foot.

It may have nothing to do with Islam But Islam don't BAN it either!!!

Burqa is not in islam and If a women go in a country where burqa is not allowed and she wear it she is comiting a sin because she is doing something thats against the law It has no significance in Islam!!!!

Burqa isn't really a part of Islam anyway. It's part of the Bedouin culture and even the pre-Islamic Desert Arabs used to wear it. It has pretty good use in the desert because it protects you.

I posted the link where criminals were using surgical masks. it presumably aided them in evading law enforcement, dont think it was simply a fashion statement.
crime will be crime. next thing you'll be asking to ban shalwar kamiz since many more suicide bombings happen with the criminal wearing shalwar kamiz than burqa.

I disagree. They're definitely trying to use Islamaphobia. It's to cover up real issues. There are even feminist groups here that are opposing it (the ban).
True feminists would not support a Burqa ban as it would go against their principles of a woman choosing what she wants to wear.
So 5 Asian origin robbers use Burqa's to rob a jewellery store so the Burqa must be banned?
MacDonalds and other fast food places are causing health roblems and costing the NHS a lot of money so do we ban it?
So If a woman choses to wear nothing but a pair of socks, should she also have the right to do that in public places? A true feminist would support that, yeah?
