i wonder where all the trends start and how do people accept them and make it the trend to wear?? Like when short top outfits with pants came out i remember all the girls were going crazy and everyone had a pair and it was like who thought that this is acceptable or who designed and came up with it?? What would you say is the place that makes Desi fashion what it is today?? Today everyone is into short tops, tommorrow who knows??
Re: Desi Fashion Scene!! where does it come from??
Fashion designers these days I think are calling the shots. Fashion designers are designing for tv shows and music videos, etc. So the general public sees it and goes to their darzi to make a ditto copy of what they see.
It used to be pastels, and now bright colors are more "in". Thank God. I look like a jamadarni with pastels.
Re: Desi Fashion Scene!! where does it come from??
it's a simple process:
designers design it --> migrates to india, where it is adapted --> comes back --> goes to boutiques --> actresses in some random drama go to such boutique --> they wear it --> drama lovers watch it --> love the dress --> go to their darzi to get it sown
sometimes, the darzi majorly screws up and a new trend is / is not started.
Re: Desi Fashion Scene!! where does it come from??
yea i guess but im trying to figure out do fashion trends start from pakistan or india and how does it work, like both countries have similar line of clothing but i do see some difference's in clothing wear from bridal pakistani and indian bridal clothes.
Re: Desi Fashion Scene!! where does it come from??
well the clothing will definitely look similar - we used to be part of the same empire (s).
I dont know how it was before the current set of Pakistani fashion designers started cropping up (i.e. in the 70's and earlier).
But currently, Pakistan has its own fashion designers that do designing - these designers set forth trends in the pattern I described.
The Pakistani designers, many of them, are often accused of copying from India. And also lifting designs from the West. A lot of it, I think is just fusion of different designs from what I'm seeing.
Also, Pakistanis generally will also see some design in maybe an Indian movie and instruct their darzis to make something like it.
