Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

The next few posts will be from Mag the Weekly’s fashion sections for numerous issues. there are some nice casual looking outfits, some cute formals and maxi dresses ( i apologize if i repost anything) and some bridal looks and lovely jhoomers:

Does anyone know the name of the model i think it’s something with an M? I have a friend that looks like her and i wanted to pull more pics so i can show her the uncanny resemblance.

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

and this is a continuation of the mag the weekly stuff http://www.magtheweekly.com/22-28Jan2011/focuse.asp

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

Finally the bridal looking beauty shots, not too crazy about the makeup also all the bridal models look kinda old, there’s no innocence in the makeup techniques that were used…that’s pretty important to making a nice bridal beauty shot. or maybe i’m crazy…what do yall think? also the jhoomers and sets are very indian looking but nice.

I mean they look hot but just old… whats the story?

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

In general I think Shilpa Shetty is really pretty and very underrated. I think she looks gorgeous on the runways and in movies, too bad she hasn’t been given any great roles. Her and Akshay Kumar should try to do something again. Anyhow i googled her name and found a new website with some pictures from the Mijwan Fashion show.

http://www.bollywoodmantra.com/picture/mijwan-fashion-show-2011-118/

bollywood mantra’s collection of pictures from the event. I’m not saying I went crazy for anything but again Shilpa Shetty got to wear the prettiest outfit. Also I think Hrithik Roshan is super hot, with the crazy gray streak in his hair. Also Anushka Sharma is dressed nicely too lately at events and what not, she’s really growing on me. Anyhow i’ll shut up and post the pics, enjoy! Oh and Kudos to Lara Dutta for choosing a hot sari in an oh so innocent color, she looked wonderful and when i saw the blouse i was like hot damn (no i’m not gay but it is a sexy blouse). In general indian designers seem to have lately gone back to circular cut skirts/lenghas with lots of material and fluff. The backs were exposed on many of these dresses to add drama and hotness.

Love love love her hair!

celina just looks like a deer caught in headlights i dunno she used to be pretty but now all i see a smutty even when dressed like this.

Anushka looked so cute and pretty

Time to drool…

I LOVED her outfit and she should wear this color more often.

Priyanka’s dress is also very nice

Sonali bendre kinda fell off the wagon???

random rant but most of the guests were not in cute dresses however this one lady had what looked like an early 90s flowery top with a gold lame looking maxi skirt complete with a giant slit up her leg, the outfit is so hideous i couldn’t add it to this topic. but for those of yall visiting the website i’m sure once you come across her pic you will laugh almost as
hard as i did.

anyhow here are some more i found through random searches, didn’t really care much for the overall websites:

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I've stumbled across...

calm down on the advertising in every thread please

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

^ thank you mod for editing that out, I was so annoyed by this poster re-posting their contact info on every topic.

anyhow ladies I have a new website for yall to check out: http://exclusively.in/

Basically Designer Indian Labels, at a discounted price that can be shipped to all of us Westerners. I have to say I haven’t seen payal singhal’s collection in some time but years ago (i mean like '05) she had such beautiful uses of bright colors and heavier outfits. The stuff she has on here is so-so.

the designers change out periodically, and they send you emails on who’s being featured and what the deals are and how long you have left to take advantage of it. (Think Groupon.com)

Keep in mind these prices are for designer goods so it’s not cheap. Anyhow aside from clothing they offer home furnishings, accessories (including purses/clutches) and really nice jewelry. The peacock collection of earrings really caught my eye and reminds me of the Art Karat collection. ( http://www.artkarat.com/main/default.aspx )

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

Nomi Ansari’s show in Arlington VA (btw I had no idea there was such a strong pakistani community out there to bring someone like Nomi Ansari to their city for a benefit and fashion show). Whoever made that happen should be proud. So I saw the show being highlighted at The Saturday Post:

http://www.thesaturdaypost.com/spotlight_239_tounity.html
Threads of Unity, “If everyone gives a thread, the poor man will have a shirt,” was an evening to benefit Fashion for Pakistan Flood Relief on February 19, 2011 at the Westin Arlington Gateway. The event was MC’d by Newseum’s, Sonya Gavankar McKay and showcased the 2011 couture line by Pakistan’s Nomi Ansari. Miss DC USA, Heather Swann also walked in the event.

but found most of the pics from flickr.com and there are some really detailed up close pics of work and what not that I chose to not show in this topic. Feel free to check out the flickr images for more details and to see the photographers other work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shutterbloom/5464616108/in/photostream/

http://dresshopper.com/2011/02/22/threads-of-unity-collected-threads-for-more-than-one-shirt/

Nomi Ansari has a bad rep for being grumpy towards women that he didn’t find pretty or skinny enough but he is a genius when it comes to color pairings. I love the festive bright colors of this collection and so take a look at the pics and give some feedback on your fav dress and what you did or didn’t care for.

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

As you can see the genius lady behind a wonderful fashion blog has done it again. Her March post showed off fashion from Je Roche. here’s the link to the blog and below a few pics:
http://asianfashionblog.co.uk/

also their link on facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Je-Roche-Fashion-House/148472895166071

and they offer cute accessories:

and a youtube link to the fashion show:

also Khushboo’s by Chand had 2 really pretty white bridal lengha in the indian sense not so much in the paki style but here’s the link to that part of the blog:
http://asianfashionblog.co.uk/2011/02/khushboos-by-chand-2011-collection-from.html

and a few pics

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

it’s been awhile since I’ve done this but I found some really nice stuff on** exclusively.in **and yall know I’ve mentioned the website before but it’s great. In this one you’ll see some Ritu Kumar bridal and formals and Payal Singhal and other stuff. Also **Satya Paul **printed saris were going for I think about $300-600 but they aren’t on the website anymore. So sorry readers I should have totally saved those pics and advertised the great deals. Anyhow I’m posting some really nice anarkalis and a taste of Satya Paul’s 2011 collection so I hope yall enjoy the INDIAN flair to this post:

http://exclusively.in/women.html
Also sign up for their emails and you’ll get a $50 off of your purchase promo code

here’s a little taste of Satya Paul’s latest and just want to let yall know I’ll have some more indian runway stuff tonight or tomorrow enjoy the pics, and remember even if you don’t like indian styled clothing these outfits are great examples for color pairings and what not for your own designs or bridesmaid ideas and so forth…embrace it!

Re: Desi Fashion/Designers that I’ve stumbled across…

So i decided that most of the indian lakme fashion resort week was just kinda clothing no one would really order or wear i’m just going to make a separate topic for it. for now enjoy some more pakistani bridal fashion.

Mona Imran Designs

Shaiyanne Malik designs

I didn’t recall this designer until I saw their 2010 collection and I think a lot of girls had saved the pic on the left
I still see a lot of facebook groups advertise that they can make that dress and have loved the layer look of it for awhile now. Anyhow

Zainab’s collection

Fahad Hussayn’s Carnival collection (i’m also adding two of their bridals that i have already previously posted so that yall can associate a designer with his work)
