Well a few of yall knew that I used to run a desi fashion thread on another desi networking website. It’s been a long time since I collected pictures but recently a friend wanted a princess like lengha. I naturally thought of indian corset styled lenghas and re-discovered an old website I used to check out. So as this topic goes on I’ll be posting desi fashion things from both the indian and pakistani styles that are trending or are classics that will always be in. I’ll even throw in a few crazy jj valaya’s into the mix. ** Feel free to add things you have come across or admired. I will do my best to name designers, or blog sites that showcased fashion shows and so forth. I hope that you all could try to do the same **

A lot of gujurati brides opt for the red and white lengha or bridal sari and i love this color combo… in general i like this look of this shot.

Zainab Sajid also has nice gowns and i’m sorry but it’s rare to see nice desi gowns most of them are tacky or don’t fit and look like tents and make all the women look pregnant so I like the silhouettes she creates with hers.
loving this gown! it will work really well for american wedding reception parties and such
also i’m noticing a lot of jackets lately is that where designers are trying to steer us?
I love this outfit and remember someone on GS had a beautiful outfit with a similar concept, can’t recall who the designer was but maybe posters in the bazaar talk area would know.

Thanks someone from the old website kinda asked me to help them with jahez and bridal fashion so i had all these extra pictures lying around. but it looks like many ppl aren’t interested so I think i’m just going to upload the pics. for most of them if you look at the name of the picture you will know the name of the designer, event or model. sorry a couple maybe a repeat…
this is more indian styled stuff but amazing use of colors, stones, and im sorry but the fit is so flattering I really sometimes hate the pakistani cut of things being so non fitted these days:

so i realize this isn’t desi fashion at all but a new trend i’m really loving is beautiful tweed dresses! the other day i was at target and saw a few of their dresses and was like wow this is so Jackie-O i love it! I also felt the material and it looked kinda uncomfy so I didn’t bother. Then last night I was watching the Apprentice and I loved the dress it was a gray tweed with blue satin lining going down the sides and just made the dress look very modern. I should try to take a screen pic of it since i DVR-ed the episode but ya i’m on the hunt for a tweed dress this winter. I think it’s a must have for women this season.
Also I went to the chanel website and had to drool over the fashion show they provide upon opening the page, and there was lots of tweed being used it was great:
anyhow that’s what i think. Also the other day michelle obama wore a sweater frontwards and backwards, well i’m not up for that but her blouse was a mermaid cut meaning it was longer in the back and i DO like this trend. I am on the hunt for a jacket that is cut like that also, but alas i live in houston and we don’t have access to all these things so easily. Wish i was visiting my family in ny so that i can score a few of these.
