Why is this confusing? Shouldn’t you be just greeting people as you see them?
Sometimes I will go up to people and say salaam if I haven’t seen them in a while or just feel like saying hello. I hug everyone (ladies of course), shake for only those who I am just being introduced to and I don’t really like the pecks so don’t do those.
As for making tea and such…they’re your guest…if you feel a sense of responsibility to be hospitable…you’re old enough.
