A help thread for the confused (aka me and anyone else) post your desi etiquette issues and hopefully someone will answer them
I’ll go first:
Q: as a female, how do you greet people at desi events? ie who gets the hug, the handshake, the 2 pecks. what about greeting uncles and guys more your own age? Are you obligated to greet everyone that you know or just people as you see them
Q: At what age should a girl take over making tea for guests that come over? At what age did you

Why is this confusing? Shouldn't you be just greeting people as you see them?
Sometimes I will go up to people and say salaam if I haven't seen them in a while or just feel like saying hello. I hug everyone (ladies of course), shake for only those who I am just being introduced to and I don't really like the pecks so don't do those.
As for making tea and such...they're your guest...if you feel a sense of responsibility to be hospitable...you're old enough.
salam dur se all aunties whom im not close to. hug those whom my mum is gd friends with and whom im friendly with. dur se salam uncles but i dont get too friendly (some times i dont come in frnt of them as well.... as a form of purdah)
dont make chai for guests yet but i do all the servings and present juice etc infnt of them since i was 18 .
I hug aunties and girls I know for a long time. I shake hands with older uncles who are aunties' husbands. I hug elderly. I handshake with young teenage guys who are my family friends. And adult men, who are around my age, I just wave, ask how are you? and that's it.
