Chess is hardly a **desi **board game. And skip is not really a **board **game, is it?
Ludo and carrom are very common. We have them here and they are a lot of fun, especially when playing with friends. The actual carrom board is huge and is a chore to bring from Pakistan, but a few of my friends have it, and we have carrom tournaments a few times a year. Very enjoyable.
Not sure about the others. What are they?

One student of mine brought a big huge carrom for me from Pakistan. We do play it once in a while being in a small town in USA. In Chicago we used to play it every week end all night long on Friday and Saturday with tons of friends coming over.
I cannot find boric powder here , once I had to order it on line from a UK website it lasted a long time . The one sold in pharmacies in US does not perform the way it used to in Pakistan.
Ludo, our whole family plays it very frequently still , my daughter loves it.

the men in my family are big fans of carrom. my uncle’s got a board, and he’s very professional about it. i also have a ludo board except half the pieces are missing now 
keep forgetting to buy extra pieces from pakistan.
mirch you have to mix your boric powder. get different ones and make a special blend of it.

We used to play "Taleemi Taash" (eductaional playing cards) that was a form of scrabble in urdu. Anyone remembers that?
It was not really a board game though
and how about Name/Place/Animal/Thing .. though that was not a board game either

one reason I was (was) good in urdu cause we used to play talimi taash since I was 5 or 6

our typical family dawats include:
the ladies playing ludo (you won't believe the fights that have arisen....lol)
the guys playing Karam board
the men playing Rang (a card game - similar to Hearts (from the computer) and trump)
and me...bored as heck

I had "The road to paradise" or something like that. It was a variation on the Monolopy type games. We got "Sawaab" rather than money.

hmmm wat was dat alternative of monopoly called oh ya rmmbrd it **Karaur Pati **n then there were ludoo / draft / carum board / saanp seerhi etc ( I m not even sure whether these even fall in board games or not)

I remember playing ludo and carem board or however you spell it....cards once in a while. I actually got really excited once when I saw a carem board here and was ready to buy it..until I found it out it was like 75 bucks....dang!
Monopoly sometimes..not desi but was common in Pakistan....
