Re: Desi attire

Okayyy I'm going to be the only one to say YES I feel embarassed to wear desi clothes to uni.. it just looks odd! I wore shalwar kameez on eid day when I had to go in to uni for a bit and in all honesty I did feel self concious . On the one hand I had my friends complimenting the outfit, but I did get looks from other people, which was probably just out of curiosity but I still felt kinda weird

However I have no prob wearing desi clothes outside of uni like grocery shopping or whatever, and also I love dressing up in a nice fancy desi suit at dinners :)

Re: Desi attire

Well i hardly wear desi attire. Only eids. But i have to admit i would feel un-comfirtable wearing desi attire at shopping center or mall. On other hand, if some girl is wearing it..i think it looks hot!

Re: Desi attire

No i dont have an issue with it and never feel embarassed but i do feel it isnt 'appropriate' to wear in some places like to hospital it doesnt look professional.

Re: Desi attire

I used to be majorly embarassed when I was younger like 15 and below. Now its OK but I wouldn't wear it to uni. Would look really odd compared to everyone else in their jeans and hoodies.

Re: Desi attire

no, but i usually dont prefer it.

Re: Desi attire

Nope, never been ashamed of wearing shalwar kameez in public. Ever since I was little and growing up in the US, I always wore shalwar kameez when going shopping or wherever. I grew up in a town where there were not a lot of desi's so I did get weird looks from gorays but I think out wardrobe is way better than theres.
