I’ve traveled to many places including Murree, Naran, Kaghan, Hunza, Gilgit etc but all of these were like mountainous areas with lots of greenery, rivers etc. But now I want to travel to some Desert in coming winters. I know there is Thar Desert in Sindh and Cholistan Desert near Bahawalpur in Punjab. If anyone been there, please let me know what time is best to go there. What are the possible attractions? and whats the best possible way to visit these areas? Thanks for any heads up…
cholistan is best from november to early march. i assume that applies to all deserts in pakistan. thar is just an extention of the cholistan - both of these are an extension of the rajhastan desert from india.
other deserts to visit include thal in western punjab, chagai in balochista. in fact much of balochistan is a desert.
around cholistan you could visit uch sharif, derawar fort, lal sohanran national park. theres the chanan pir festival in february/march
Re: Desertz In Pakistan..
Thanks a lot for your reply. I'll definitely try to visit Cholisitan Desert in this winters. I have infact seen Lal Sohanra National Park 2 years ago but I didn't know that it comes under the Cholistan Desert.
