Depressive Pakistani songs

What's "depressive"?

My male teenage cousins in Pak are all obsessed with heavy metal and grungey music. I don't know the names of the groups, but they're definitely horribly depressing.

i once used to listen to heavy metal too :( ooh those gr8 old golden days .

PCG Have you heard Najam Shiraz's 'Meri tanhayon tum hee laga lo mujh ko seenay se'. Now thats a depressive songs

But see, this is what I'm saying - all the sad songs that are made - are romantically sad.

Whatever happened to the "life sucks" songs?

Mera matlab hai - why is it that the only kind of sadness that singers in Pakistan sing about - revolves around romantic love? Why can't you feel sadness in other ways?

Its either romantic love sadness, or tanhai sadness ... which inevitably involves the singer saying something along the lines of...

"I'm lonely. I need to find a woman".

Even the concept of 'tanhai' has not been spared of this contamination.

Atlanta - chup bay. If I remember correctly, I rejected you Waise, how is my munna baby doing?

i’d buy it

men :grumpy:

I assume you dont listen to the classics ie, noor jahan, junoon (yes in some songs they are of the same calibre) some Jal (potential classics), ataullah, aziz miah, shazia manzoor and so forth. Get your head out of the bubble that is pseudo pop (its not good enough to be pop) and you will see a richnes in pakistani music that transdesends all emotional and genre-aic barriers.

Abida parveen sings a variety of songs, naya noor and nusrat fateh ali khan....and Aziz miah qwaal oft songs about emotions you forget you had until you hear a certain lilt in his voice or a certain depth to his noon" Abida parveen and ataullah too have that effect.

Their words and phrases are so heartfelt and touching that you loose yourelf.

Of course all these sufi kalaams are up for interpretation, if you are happy the ongs will be danceable, if you feel the word should be destroyed, then they are potentially its last rites.

I lub qwaalis and so forth. Pakistan produces the worlds best.

unblock me badtamiz larki

eP and Jal will provide all the depression you will ever need

hiccup - you only affirm my point - the examples you come up with are old songs - old work.

I'm talking about music these days.

how about barzakh by eP .. now thats a pretty depressive track!!
