I went to get a root canal done on Tuesday. Unfortunately 4 injections later even though was face was numb, I could still feel the pain in my tooth. The dentist had to stop. I was prescribed antibiotics for a week. It’s day 3 of antibiotics and i’m still in immense pain
The swelling has went down but I cant sleep. I wake up during the night to apply some bonjela( for adults). By the looks of things I don’t think he’ll be able to do my root canal on Tuesday
Has anyone here had similar problems? What can I do to ease the pain?
Re: Dental problems :(
Not sure how much help this will be....but years ago I had this issue with one of my molars. Had root canal done but it kept getting infected/hurt like hel*. Finally I decided just to have that tooth pulled.
Re: Dental problems :(
aww,get well soon!:(
Normal dental procedure, anesthesia doesn't act when there is alot of infection going on,antibiotics prescribed would help reduce the infection, and hopefully next time things would be better.Keep on taking painkillers.
Usually don't prescribe antibiotics once RCT procedure has started off,as RCT itself is meant to get rid of any infection and give relief to the tooth. But if patient returns during the sittings complaining of swelling/fever etc..then antibiotics prescribed, otherwise not.Any pain in tooth without fever/swelling/systemic signs, that is dealt with changing dressings of the tooth and further cleaning etc.
So don't worry.Feel bad for you, toothaches are the WORSE!Hang in there!
Re: Dental problems :(
Yep painkillers - ibuprofen or paracetamol.
