Dental advice

Well, when I was a regular go-er to the dentist a few years ago, everytime I went, the maniac woman would give me another filling without explaining why, or asking my proper permission. So I would just lie there, and let her do her thing (which involved nasty injections). After a few times of going to her, I think one of her crappy fillings came out. So I went to a different dentist, who informed me it was a temporary one (pfft.. she didnt tell me that)… so I had it replaced with a proper one. This dentist also grinded the filling down, so it actually felt normal, rather than rough as the previous filling had.

But after this I vowed never to go to the dentist.. until where another filling was my tooth chipped :frowning: so i went to yet another dentist to get that fixed.

Now, its happened again.. to a different tooth (again the work of that maniac dentist). Its a molar - a quarter of it has chipped. It’s got a metal filling.

I don’t know what to do.. its quite depressing all this dentist malarky. I’m sure dentists aren’t supposed to be as mean as that lady, and thanks to her, I neglect going.

The chipped tooth isn’t hurting, but I’m guessing I should get it fixed? Should I just go private? And is it worth getting the metal fillings replaced? I have a feeling cause of the hot drinks I drink, they probably expand .. weakening the tooth.. leading to this spontaneous cracking?

Please share similar experiences
I sooo don’t want to go to the dentist !

Re: Dental advice

well.......the one which is chipped away.......usually if 3 other corners are ok..you could get the filling done and it will be ok..

and as for cavities (either due to plaque or due to previous filling getting out)..you need to get filling done...or else it would go to your root and then you will have to get a nasty root canal treatment which is expensive too...

so you better go to some good dentist for once at least...get things checked out ....

Re: Dental advice

First, do not go to good looking lady dentists (assuming you are a guy).... focus on your health....and not just lay there and let her do whatever she wishes... ;)

Joke aside,

Take care of your teeth as your asset.

Try to be persuasive and nicely but firmly question exactly what will be the procedure and what it entails. Its YOUR body.

Try to save as much as your own tooth rather than getting it drilled everytime and lose yor tooth.

Filling or artifcial tooth/crown etc. will never be the same as your own tooth.

Some dentists are root canal happy. ( More money) They just love to drill or take a lot of X-rays. Get a second opinion if not comfortable.

You should say "I want to save my tooth at all cost. Do not even accidentally touch my other tooth with the drill! Off course the dentist will be offended...so say that nicely/tactfully"

Ask also exactly how much you wll have to pay....... upfront before work is begun.
