Whats the penance for that ?How does one seek forgiveness ? is it a forgiveable offense ?

As long as you are not dead, you can ask for any type of forgiveness and Allah:swt: is the most forgiving and the most beneficient.

Salam Kodiak,

If you die being a nonbeliever the penalty is HELL.

You can ask for his forgiveness all the time.

Remember Allah is more closer than you juglar vain. So if you prostrate or even think in your heart, Allah knows it. You dont need any magic wand to contact :)
