Man who wrote two iconic products C and UNIX - died today

Another legend of the IT world dies in second straight week.

My software career ( and probably for everyone who started in S/w in the 80s and 90s) started with learning UNIX and C.

His book ‘the C Programming Language’ coauthored by him is the best technical book I have read

Re: Dennis Ritchie - father of Unix and C dies

C was the first programming language I learned… and the K&R book is still on my shelf. The language and the book remain indispensable experiences for me. Despite all the new languages and frameworks, a solid foundation in a language like C is still respected in the industry… and the K&R book is still called one of the best programming books ever written - primarily due to the clarity and succinctness of the text.

RIP Dennis Ritchie
