Now to the topic. Born and bred in upper Balochistan which is as conservative as FATA, I never saw such things happening there. I'm not satisfied with these excerpts and would later try to dig deeper into this matter. And if such things happen at all on the large scale it doesn't justify the criminal act of the army against the pauper tribes. I condemn both the Jirgas and the Army.

Shawa, nothing personal! You and some other posters showed a total lack of info on FATA. I posted details of FCR and the house demolition by Pashtun elders.
You talk about born in a conservative place. Unfortunately it is not the "conservative" thingy. Rather it is the Frontier Crime regulations (FCR) that govern FATA area. Balochistan does not have the menace of FCR.
Why not repeal FCR? Jirgas and Feds both have to change their ways. The problem is no one wants to get rid of FCR. FATA maliks get FAT milking tax payers money, and the government officers like political agents take their cut. Ultimately Pakistani tax payers and ordinary residents of FATA, BOTH lose.
And get educated about the region you want to discuss. "Dig deeper" first before posting hateful stuff against the country. Being born in Baluchistan is not enough; you must READ and get EDUCATED.

Shawa, How's your research coming. I posted three national level news sources to show that Pathans do demolish homes to punish offending Pushtoons.

anti: I have had several relatives who have served extensively in FATA and I also know activists from that area (political and social) Basically the demolishing of houses is an FCR law and the FCR was not passed or amde by pashtuns, it was made by the British and kept by the Pakistani's.
All attempts to reform the tribal areas have been stalled..almost always by people in Islamabad in collaboration with corrupt Maliks(tribal leaders) and civil servants. The reason is simple, people posted in the FATA have almost total discretion to do anything under the FCR, essentially..according to one estimate the total amount made through smuggling bribes for various officials in the tribal areas comes to nearly 100 million dollars annualls..by contrast the entire development budget spent on the tribal areas was 60 million dollars.
Secondly as far as the operation against the Arabs is concernced: You can use the when in rome argument as much as you want, the fact is that by any stretch of the imagination what's happening in FATA is a travesty.

But the Pakistani army can only blame itself for some of the immensly idiot things its done in the past year or so. What kind of army attacks it's own civilians like it's done in FATA.
