one of my friend is paki, had her 1st son born i pakistan, now wants her second child to born in US, her due date in july. but they dont have any close relative in US where they can have their stay.
wnt to ask in wich month she shud go to US for delivery?
her hubby will be with her, coz they have many frends in US but no close relative. n her husband is currently in pak but 5,6 years back he lived in US. so he is much familiar with that (abt accommodation n stuff).
She might need a letter from her doctor stating that she's safe to travel overseas during that time but for full details about rules and restrictions they should definitely call the airline and find out if it's OK!
isn't that wierd though? To go to a different country where you don't have any relations or support to give birth? It definately will not be free either.
i thought they stopped giving nationality just based on being born there..
I think thats not the case with USA so far...I think some European countries do not allow it any longer....I might be wrong...
I know someone who comes to the USA from Saudi Arabia to deliver their baby...they had their 4th child here last year...so I guess they did get the citizenship this way...
Yeah... If you're born in USA, you are a citizen. But it is really expensive delivering a baby here without health insurance.
And the airlines don't let you travel after your 7th month; if you're pregnant and showing, you have to show them a doctor's certificate confirming the term and all.

From what I understand, at the very least, while the child may have the right to be a naturaized US citizen, the parents cannot get citizenship based on their child's status until the child is either 18 or 21 and sponsors the parents.
So, the kid is entitled to live in the US, but not the parents. The parents would have to decide if they want to leave their child behind or wait until the child is old enough to return.
Another point, I would also question whether the mother would get an visitor/entry visa?
My younger sister was born in the US but we never claimed the US citizenship for her after she turned 18, even though she had (has) a 'US passport as a baby. I don't understand the hype anyway. Be happy whereever u are and Allah will find ways for you to be happy and content whereever you are.
