Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

India is doing now with Israel what they should've done when beginning this project. What did India gain from the 19 years of work?

Perhaps its your twisted English and use of bad examples that led me to 'not get the point'.

I guess girls in India speak like men.

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

the mind boggles at how a pakistani can possibly think of making this joke.

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

wonder why your mind doesn't boggles at why the missile failed

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

I read an article saying India is largest arm buying country in Asia. I wonder why does India needs so many weapons?

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

And yet another mind boggling rebuttal… just amaJing…

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

Because the paint was too heavy?

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

Not in Asia, but South Asia. I think China is the largest in Asia.

As to why India needs so many weapons.. well.. they think of themselves as an emerging regional power & a player in the world, hence they want to increase their military might. But at the same time, their populations makes up the largest number of poverty-stricken people on the earth, disease is rampant, corruption is widespread, standards of living are laughable, and a number of other major problems. Their choice to use their resources to buy more and more unnecessary weapons instead of removing these problems is despicable. And then they cry when Pakistan makes a small weapons purchase, and have the guts to come and say that we should spend our money on our economy. Our economy has the 2nd highest growth rate in Asia (after China) & our military budget is less than 3% of our GDP, which is enough, and we always need to have a minimum deterrence against India's newly acquired weapons, in order to live a safe life in Pakistan. This is what most people don't understand, including many of the Pakistanis on this forum.

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

No Lahore_Ka_Cheetah, the report said that India was the largest importer of weapons in 2005 in the world. China was 2nd or 3rd.

I'm afraid but that was only for one financial quarter for last year. India is the second-fastest growing economy in the world. Pakistan's annual rate is around 6%.

Actually India's mil budget is 2.5% of GDP but Pakistan's military budget is 4% of the GDP.

You can also look at this way : India buys so many weapons because it has 2 potential military threats China and Pakistan, and who are military partners (China sells ballistic missiles and nuclear wapons tech. to Pakistan). So being sandwiched between these 2 military threats, India is fairly justified in its increased military spending.

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

^ do you think Iran and Afghanistan are very friendly with Pakistan? :)

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

What about leaving 250million people in poverty? Is that justified as well? India doesn't need all the weapons its buying these days. India is not even a concern for China, nor was it ever. China mainly focuses on East Asia, unless India does something stupid. India should first remove these MAJOR problems before spending on military.

Re: Delhi to abandon Trishul missile programme

If I'm not mistaken then an equal number of Chinese and equal proportion of Pakistanis are also poor.

Last week, the Chinese Ambassador to India said on National Television that India's northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh is Chinese territory.

Arunachal Pradesh is 3 times the size of Taiwan.

They have been making this demand since the 1950s. They have also annexed India's Aksai Chin area adjacent to Ladakh in the 1962 war.

China also supplies nuclear technology, ballistic missiles, and whole spectrum of weapons to Pakistan which will undoubtedly be used against India.
It would be a folly on India's part to ignore the Chinese military threat.

After 1962, India and China did not have good relations. But surprisingly, India ended up engaging with Pakistan more often (1965, 71 and 99) two of which were instigated by Pakistan, and also because of Pakistan's aid to Kashmiri militants.

This shouldn't be mistaken as no existing tension between India and China. There is very deep tension, only thing is that India and China like just put it under the carpet.
