is there a way to inform members when a thread gets deleted somehow? maybe delete the messages in the thread that are offensive and lock it?
i spent 20 minutes looking for something that was deleted.

hahahaa.. lazy i spend 5 minutes looking for the thread in the same section. Then 5 minutes to look for it in anohter section... just incase the mods move it. The last ten minutes i spend throwing obscenities at the computer. really.

Something like this you mean:
“Dear lollypop man, Your comments/thread was removed as it was inappropriate/vulgar/offensive/etc. I hope you don’t mind. Kind regards, moderator.”
Alternatively you could do what everyone else does, open a new thread titled “where the fok did my thread go?”
