Yes, this is not fair.... when we have the option of activating our account, we should have the facility to deactivate it as well...
Could the admins here please incorporate it?

^^ You can activate your Gmail, hotmail, FB accounts, can you de-activate them also ?
If people are given this feature, GS will become a maze where people's account will be disspearing from the middle of the thread and what not ..
what is their to de-activate, just stop posting and you are deactive

de-activate meaning they can ban you, that's the closest you can get to being "deleted".. It's a policy here, so too bad brutha!

"View the user in the AdminCP, and select Delete User from the drop down." -- vBulletin Option. So it is possible.
But i think here its a policy issue to maintain the user count. I think it is also a privacy issue, if you don't want your thoughts to be online than they shouldn't be. I would look into user agreement and GS policies if they been asked as we sign up for it. If not than try to google up your rights in terms of a web site retaining your information and posts.
I personally feel that it should be my right to hide/delete my personal information from any public forum. As thoughts being the personal property so it comes under the same category.
