You mean- the car makers introduced some concepts to the automobile-industry (design, gadgets etc) which haven’t really take of?! Uff, I am hardly making any sense

You are right. A “concept vehicle” is a something which is developed by the auto-makers. It is always something different from the regular models being made by them.
It is always a new style which is not produced elsewhere or different engine specifications or some innovative gadgets. These are generally introduced in many of the “car shows” to get public reaction. Some “concept cars” make it to production and some don’t. From concept to actual production can take a few years.
Fine example is Audi TT. It was shown as a concept car and as public liked it a lot, so they made it to production rather quickly. Chrysler’s PT Cruiser was also a concept car which made it to production. If you notice when these cars were introduced as concept cars, there were no other cars designed like them. Some of their features are then copied by other mainstream models.
A concept car is more than just a drawing on a paper. It has to be developed as a proto-type so people can see it and feel it.
