I am having shugal masti on GS and wife is watching old Indian songs on TV. These are the songs we used to listen to when we were newly married and I would put cassette in the cassette player of my car and we would go for a picnic on California beaches. It is giving me nostalgic memories.
Why do these things, like songs, perfumes, photos jog your memories ?
probabaly because you heard, smelled, or seen those places..
the memory cells in your brain still remember them and go halaluah when they smell or hear the same thing again..

Yep, what rasmalai said.
Our brain associates certain memories with certain objects/things and when those objects/things come up, those memories are revived. Kind of like we tag threads and if we click on the tag on the right hand side, the thread would come up.

Look at my post again , I was talking about the past. Deja Vu relates to going back to past mentally based on some cue from the present.
