Degree while travelling

Can anyone give me the name of the University that provided a degree while travelling (at sea if i remember correctly).
I had come across it many years back & then once X2 mentioned it too in his blog but I don’t remember it now .
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Degree while travelling

Ok I just found it

Semester at Sea - Study Abroad Voyages

You found it. There are other study abroad programs that cover multiple countries. The topics typically are in business, political science, art and history. I understand there are others in linguistics, archeology and ecological topics but don't know of any myself.

And it's not a full degree just one semester towards degree, or a year abroad with some unis

You don't have to be a student at that Uni for that term, just make sure the classes are transferable.

Re: Degree while travelling

Summer camps,Summer work placements,Volunteering abroad works same way.

Re: Degree while travelling

The Semester at Sea is a really cool idea :k: - I’m going to get the undergrad cohort at my University to look into this. Nothing develops your personality like experience you get from travelling. I wish I had availed similar opportunities during my undergrad/grad years.

Re: Degree while travelling

Can you give me some links to those plz.

That sounds better.Flexibility if one is homesick

Yep,its similar.

Exactly.Travelling is a great way to learn real life stuff not just books.

Re: Degree while travelling

definetly jump at the chance if you can get even a semester abroad. Im my 3rd year of uni i did a year in singapore. The life skills you gain from it such as independence and a sense of order and organisation, are invaluable. From singapore i travelled to tokyo, thailand, indonesia, malaysia and australia. It trust me when i tell you, it looks good on ur resume. Had a series on interviews just there for graduate jobs and the year abroad was one edge i had over a lot of candidates. Interviewers seemed really interested in my time abroad, what i learned, how did i develop as a person etc etc.

LP

look up international programs of temple university, Boston university, Univ of misouri KC, Northwestern uni. These are the ones I know, but there are many many programs. pretty much any decent size uni has a study abroad program. some do it in partnership with other unit, some have sole or joint global campuses.

I had done a program sponsored by people to people international and uni of missouri which travelled across UK, germany, france, belgium and netherlands over a term, but it looks like they dont do it any more, which sucks because it was a phenomenal program, but check and see UMKC may be doing it on their own.

For my masters I had been in italy, switzerland, and spain through Temple-Rome campus. a phenomenal experience, which is still on for summer, or flu academic year abroad, look into it

Re: Degree while travelling

JazaakAllah :hat: X2 & Midnight for your insight.I’ll look into it for sure.

Re: Degree while travelling

Hi, I know this post is a bit old now, but I just wanted to hear a bit more about your experience in Singapore as I am considering it myself. Where did you study in Singapore? Can you maybe tell me about pros and cons of choosing Singapore as a study abroad programme? Thanks.
