Degree in Medicine

:salam:

Hope everyone’s doing fine.

A friend of mine has just completed his A-Levels. He is interested in becoming a doctor, and needs guidance…universities, places, costs etc.

He did not end up with very good grades but just decent ones (B, C, C, D)), so what are his options. + He is ready to study in any place…

Would be thankful to hear from people who have some knowledge on this.

Thanks to all who would answer in advance.

Re: Degree in Medicine

In the UK got no chance. Need AAA practically with similar for GCSE's.

Re: Degree in Medicine

Yah. He'll have to do bio-med or some sh!t, ace it, and go to grad med school.

Re: Degree in Medicine

or go to one of those med schools advertised on desi channels.

Re: Degree in Medicine

With BCCD you can get into top universities for hard sciences, no one does them at all. I'm talking KCL/UCL calibre (both were in the world top 50).

Re: Degree in Medicine

I was also wondering the same question.
I'm going to finish High School and recieve my ontario diploma
I was wondering if I could apply to a Uni in the UK, but would I be considered an international student? Does England recognize Canadian education? If so would Canada give me a grant for studying in the UK? I'm Canadian born, if that's relavent.

Also is doctory in the UK only 4 years after high school? Because in Canada it's 8 years :/ and I'm not going to pursue my career as a doctor if there's no other option ><;

I've been researching about this a lot and just can't find any answers! Is there a site that could answer some of these questions; however, I would truly appreciate it if someone could answer them.

Re: Degree in Medicine

  1. yes you are an international student. Welcome to financial rapeville.

  2. Not 4, 6. 5 in uni, and then one year residency to get your full fledged status.

  3. You'd have to kill your SAT's to stand a chance of getting in. UK med school is as competitive as anywhere on Earth. Best bet is to do it in Canada mate.

  4. Have a nice day.

Re: Degree in Medicine

UK Med schools massively over subscribed. You either need to be something very special or rich to get in i.e. your dad is the PM.

Re: Degree in Medicine

One of my cousins just did her A Levels and got A, B, D. She got offered a place for medicine by University of Liverpool and some university in London (can’t remember the name).

I found that quite odd…so yea :halo:

Re: Degree in Medicine

Maybe her references were brilliant AND she aced her GMAT.

Re: Degree in Medicine

her references must be some real heavy hitters if she got into med school by taking the Graduate Management Admissions test (GMAT) :)
