Defreezing meat

How long before the actual cooking do you take the meat/chicken??

I took out the chicken yesterday evening to make the biryaani masala tonigt but its kind of smelling weird…hmm!

Re: Defreezing meat

Depends what the weather is like, if its warm then in the morning to cook for the afternoon

Usually I take it out from the freezer and put it in the fridge if Im going to defrost it overnight.

You shouldnt have to defrost chicken anyways, jaldi pak jata hay.

Maybe you didnt get fresh chicken to begin with from the butchers.

Re: Defreezing meat

hmmmm yeah teesri iftaar ka time 2 hrs mein hay

You shouldn't be leaving chicken out for that long, it gets bad. If you plan on defrosting chicken over night then transfer it to the fridge from the freezer.

Re: Defreezing meat

Chameli, if the chicken smells weird, throw it out. Don’t cook it  It could be a breeding ground for bad bad stuff!

errrr always thaw it in the fridge, unless u are doing it in the microwave.

Unless you are only serving it to the guests ..

I just hate microwave thaw. I just thaw meat in cold water for 30 minss-1 hr. But like the meat I thaw is in quite small quantity therefore it is easy to thaw in 30 mins in cold water.

Re: Defreezing meat

i am not a big microwave thaw person myself either. water helps for quick thaw, but the best thaw still is slow thaw in fridge.

Re: Defreezing meat

i always leave it in a pot of water for a coupla hours.....

Re: Defreezing meat

^ me too. Leave it in a big bowl of water until its defrosted. This way it doesnt sit at room temperature for hours giving bacteria the opportunity to multiply.

If u store your meat or chicken in a single later (ie flat in the bag) it is much quicker to thaw in water.
