Definition of a muslim.....a painfull thought

We talk about Islam and muslims all the time but are we agree on the tirm ‘‘muslim’’??? Are we agree on defintion ‘‘muslim’’?? Recently i read CJ Munirs report on 1973 anti Ahmadyya movment where diffrent ulamaa tried to define the tirm ‘‘muslim’’. Accordind to the report if we accept definition of muslim by an Alimm then we are declared muslim by him but become ‘‘kafir’’ through other molvi. Why is that??

You can call your self a MUSLIM after you have declared the declaration of faith which is:

There is no God, but ALLAH and Mohammad(pbuh) is Messenger of Allah.

The judgment of who is TRUE MUSLIM rests upon ALLAH only and NOT some moulvi. I think its more of a cultural thing in which people rely on moulvies to make the religious related decisions, which is pretty stupid. Islam is easy, comprehensive religion, one does not need a help of local moulvi or peer sahib to understand it.

very much true watcher..............I cannot agree more. However I think if people of Pakistan should give more weight to saying of prophet (SAW) rather then Maulvi's then they wont be in the mess as we are now. I cannot remmber the exact hadith but our dearest prophet (SAW) in one hadith said that ** "Whoever say [KALMA] he is muslim and his blood is haram to another muslim"**. I cannot recall actual hadith but I am sure If I search I will find one.

So you're saying if I say.

"There is no God, but ALLAH and Mohammad(pbuh) is Messenger of Allah. "

That I automatically become a Muslim?

That's too easy.

Arai, is it supposed to be hard?---or rather what i mean to say is that, maybe, declaring the shahada does seem easy, and perhaps it is easy to say aloud, it seems to roll off one's the lips. But the shahada is not just something 'fancy' one may--must say, its a declaration..an affirmation that you believe in the absolute in the oneness of Allah swt, the finaliy of the prophethood, and that you accept islam as your religion, and you'll strive with all of your being to fulfill the commands of Allah swt.

Hummm, I wonder where that came from?? Any quotes … if I dare ask sis.

Sahih Muslim, Book 001, Number 0176:

It is narrated on the authority of Usama b. Zaid that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent us in a raiding party. We raided Huraqat of Juhaina in the morning.

I caught hold of a man and he said: There is no god but Allah, I attacked him with a spear.

It once occurred to me and I talked about it to the Apostle (may peace be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said:
*Did he profess" There is no god but Allah," and even then you killed him? *

I said: Messenger of Allah, he made a profession of it out of the fear of the weapon.

He (the Holy Prophet) observed:
Did you tear his heart in order to find out whether it had professed or not?
And he went on repeating it to me till I wished I had embraced Islam that day.

Hmmm? No quotes there…came from what i know, and what i believe.

I wish someone can read this Hadith to maulvi's and ullemah's teach people that "if kill people XXXXX you will go to heaven". I guess is good example is killing of Qadiani's. I heard while in Pakistan that A maulvi that killing a Qadiani is blessfull act and you will go to heaven.

I thought maybe you would use Pakistan Constitution of 1973!!

Salaams
I wonder why Molvis dont think when they talk about Ahmadis. I belive this hadith is a pointing finger to every Molvis who issue ''Fatwa'' just to justified his/thier intentions/benifits.
May Allah give show them the right way.
