Salaam,
I have always wondered this. It’s simple and thoughtful, define God as you see/feel Him.
I’m not asking for the Islamic definition but rather how you perceive him.
Wasalam

Re: Define..
Salaam bro Jafri- I try my best to focus on two attributes that we seem to remember least, and Allah (swt) wants us to remember most because He repeats them more than his other names, i.e. Rehman and Rahim.
Re: Define..
Wasalam, nice post. Reminds me ofa majlis lol, maulana said that when you sin, he gives you the perfect penalty for it, but when you do a good deed, he multiplies it by 10 folds.

Re: Define..
A beautiful anecdote from the life of Imam Ali (as) which is noted in the different books of history:
Dhilib al Yamani asked Imam Ali (as) whether he had seen God.
Imam Ali (as) replied, “Will I worship one whom I have not seen?”
Then he inquired, “How have you seen Him?”
Imam Ali (as) replied, "Eyes do not see Him, but hearts perceive Him through the realities of belief".
^ Sermon 82 - Nahjul Balagha
Praise be to Allah who is High above all else, and is Near (the creation) through His bounty. He is the Giver of all reward and distinction, and Dispeller of all calamities and hardships. I praise Him for His continuous mercy and His copious bounties.
I believe in Him as He is the First of all and He is Manifest. I seek guidance from Him as He is Near and is the Guide. I seek His succour as He is Mighty and Subduer. I depend upon Him as He is Sufficer and Supporter. And I stand witness that Muhammad (blessing of Allah be on him and his progeny) is His slave and His Prophet. He sent him for enforcement of His commands, for exhausting His pleas and for presenting warnings (against eternal punishment).
Re: Define..
^ nothing left to add now since you have quoted baab e Madinatul Ilm, Maula Ali....
Asrar kay dar khol rahay hein, khamosh
Hikmat kay gehar rol rahay hein, khamosh
Ay pek mehel shanas, Jibrel Ameen
Is waqt Ali bol rahay hein, khamosh

Hi there,
Recently i have to read all above the comments. That was a nice talk.
Asrar kay dar khol rahay hein, khamosh Hikmat kay gehar rol rahay hein, khamosh Ay pek mehel shanas, Jibrel Ameen Is waqt Ali bol rahay hein, khamosh ~Josh Malihabadi~
SubhanAllah..Thanks for that.
Really? You mean to say that Hazrat Ali’s word is final over what Muhammad:saw: or Allah himself have said on the subject? Nice, very nice.
Re: Define..
^may i know what exactly u r refering to sir so i could reply?
Re: Define..
I quoted your post...What else do you need? Explain your post and comment that nothing else needs to be said or can be said about it.
Re: Define..
^kaleem…i had said that there is nothing left to add after the words of Maula Ali were quoted because his word is the word of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) as the Prophet (pbuh) said “I am the city of knowledge, and Ali is its gate and the one who wants to enter this city must pass through its gate”…Maula Ali’s word is the word of the Prophet and the word of the Prophet is the word of Allah as revealed in sura Najam first set of verses:
[53:1] I swear by the star when it goes down.
[53:2] Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray;
[Shakir 53:3] Nor does he speak out of desire.
[Shakir 53:4] It is naught but revelation that is revealed,
[Shakir 53:5] The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him
could a believer express his own opinion in front of an opinion of the Prophet when there is an order in sura Ahzaab:
[33:6] The Prophet has a greater claim on the faithful than they have on themselves…
i hope u understand the light i made my comments under…let me try to explain my view a bit more and highlight more the relationship b/w the Prophet (pbuh) and Maula Ali…
Maula Ali opened his eyes in the lap of the Prophet (pbuh), lived with the Prophet (pbuh), learned all his knowledge from the Prophet (saww)…Maula Ali had no teacher in his life but the Prophet (pbuh) …Maula Ali says “I used to follow the blessed Prophet like a baby camel follows his mother”…Maula Ali also said ““He (the Prophet) taught me a thousand doors of knowledge and and each door opened for me a thousand (more doors)”…Prophet (pbuh) said “”'Ali is the best of your judges”…it is due to this fact that after the Prophet’s departure from the world, all the irresolvable questions were refered to Maula Ali…the list of these events is great and can be found in the books but as a reference i will quote the 2nd caliph of Muslims who said “God save son of Khattab from the day when Abul Hasan (Maula Ali) is not around to solve our problems”…in another instance he said “Had it not been Ali, Umar would have perished”…to get a glimpse of Maula Ali’s wisdom you may study Nahjul Balagha, which is a collection of some of his sermons, letters and sayings (http://www.al-islam.org/nahj/)…his knowledge is inseparable from the Prophet (pbuh) and is actually the best evidence and proof of the Prophet’s knowledge and perfection…infact not only his knowledge but his personality is inseparable from the Prophet (pbuh) and the biggest proof of that is the event of Mubahala (Quranic verse 3:61) where Maula is called “nafs/self” of the Prophet (pbuh)…at two historic occasions when the Prophet (pbuh) had ordered the Muslims to become brother of another fellow Muslim, the Prophet (pbuh) chose Maula Ali (as) as his brother both of the times…
there is too much to write but i’d end this post by giving a couple of verses from sura Maida that are revealed in honour of the Prophet and Maula Ali…i will be happy to provide u references from the best of classic sunni scholars who have confirmed this…
[5:55] Only Allah is your Vali and His Messenger and those who believe, those who keep up prayers and pay the poor-rate while they bow.
[Shakir 5:56] And whoever takes Allah and His messenger and those who believe for a guardian, then surely the party of Allah are they that shall be triumphant.
Re: Define..
My creator, the one who controls my life, and whom I'm dependent upon. The one who is closer to me than my jugular vein and knows about my intentions and innermost thoughts........and because of this you can be honest with HIM (can't hide anything anyways) and lay your heart open.
