There is an interesting thread with a poll on having shariah or otherwise. First of all, I want to ask with due respect what you all think about shariah and what shariah actually is.
If you support it, then why?
If you do not support it, what are your reasons?
To be a little precise, is it the Shariah of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) we are talking about?

Sharia is rules for Muslims as mentioned in the Quran & Sunnah. There is no simpler definition.
Figh is responsible for implementing Sharia, into the society. Figh cannot modify sharia.

Do all secularists agree on a single set of laws? No...that's what parliment is for.
The question is, how many are willing to sit down and engage in a political process.
If even the MMA types are, then it's a promising sign.

What a ridiculous comparison.
Secularlism does not have one religious book as it's guidance, it's more a political stance. The Quran is one holy book for all time. Why can't our mullahs all agree on it's exact interpretation, especially when it comes to Sharia laws?
The MMA leaders cannot even pray in the same Mosque, let alone agree on one version of Sharia.
