Re: define kushi - happiness?

Satisfaction :)

of heart

Re: define kushi - happiness?

^^ No i won't limit it to heart only

Re: define kushi - happiness?

but of heart is more reliable. other may be only shirt lived and viable.

My persepective is that happiness is related to heart.... otherwise, I have witnessed teary eyes amonst the bed of roses and lighting bugs :)

From the religious point of view as well, satisfaction of heart is termed as the Ultimate happiness.

Re: define kushi - happiness?

Lot of terminologies i.e. Heart, Mind, Nafas etc etc. But whatever it is I am talking about it's satisfaction. Like even if i have some good food and it satisfies my tummy ... than still its happiness :)

Re: define kushi - happiness?

anything that kinda makes me jumpy and hyper :D

Interesting.

So, even a Mirch (not the guppy) can give you happiness as per your definition.

Quote

A 92 year old blind lady moved to a nursing home today.

Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.

After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.

"I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room .... just wait."

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied.

"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how I arrange my mind.

I already decided to love it ... It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away ... just for this time in my life."

Re: define kushi - happiness?

Hmmm happiness.. ok for me it means:

  • Achieving goals that I've set for myself (e.g. Completing exams, good results etc)
  • Peace --> Just those days when life is far from drama & difficulties
  • Helping others - even in the tiniest ways, if I make someone else happy, I'm happy too :)
  • Being around family/friends on good terms (the long chats, hugs, laughs, jokes - all of it!)

Thats all for now. :)

Re: define kushi - happiness?

Happiness is a gift from Allah (SWT)
It is a by-product of when I can achieve my design function
It supersedes satisfaction
It makes my heart praise Allah (SWT) in thanks
It is a state of surrender and submission
It is the optimal flow of uplifting experience without the hinderance of thought
Happiness is the ease after the ease
Happiness is the test for gratitude
Happiness is the taster and lure of what Paradise could be like

It is a measure of ability, both induced and acquired, to adopt misery in the same expeditious manner in which a bliss full event is adopted, in other words it is a manifestation of how positively you can take bad events of life subjectively.

Re: define kushi - happiness?

inner satisfaction, which can only be achieved by being urself and who you want to be, and pleasing urself
unfortunately we try to please others more than ourselves

Beautifully said brother.

I would like to add few more.

Five simple rules to be happiness:

  1. Free your heart of hatred.

  2. Free your mind from worries.

  3. Live simply.

  4. Give more.

  5. Expect less.
