**Defence Day celebrations held at PAF Base

LAHORE: Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in a befitting manner at PAF Base Lahore on Saturday. The auspicious day was observed with a renewed pledge and determination to make the “Fazaiya” an even more strong and potent force to face any challenge.

The day started with special prayers and Quran khawani for the martyrs of the 1965 war.

The special feature of the day was a static display at the PAF Base Lahore. Various PAF aircraft including Mirage, F-7 and Mashak were on display. Large stalls were also set up where visitors could buy calenders and other souvenirs and literature pertaining to PAF, while children were shown films about the PAF.

An impressive solo flying display by PAF F-16 aircraft was also performed reflecting the combat and flying skill of the pilots, which drew the admiration of all visitors present at the venue.

A special parade was also held in the morning where the Base Commander, Air Commodore Mumtaz a Shahi read out the Chief of Air Staff’s order of the day.
Air Vice Marshal M Atiq Rafique inaugurated the proceedings, while the ceremony was attended by a large number of retired PAF officers, JCOs, NCOs and airmen of Pakistan Air Force.
