Dear Guppies,
On 6 September 2006 is Pakistan’s 41st Defence Day.
This day the nation celebrates its armed forces and heroes, and pays tributes to the brave sons of the soil who never have second thoughts even when the nation demands the biggest sacrifice.
The war of 1965 uncovered many heroes, the three most famous names undoubtedly are;
**Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed NH, Sqn Ldr Sarfaraz Rafiqui Shaheed HJ, **
**and
Sqn Ldr M. M. Alam SJ (bar) i.e. twice.**
The two other heroes laid down their lives and are not with us, while the third was a ghazi and served the country and retired as an Air Cdre in the 80s. He is a unique individual, Pakistan’s ace fighter pilot, with record kills in one mission. He became a symbol of pride for the nation and PAF. He lives a religious, single life and is a very learned man, full of concern for his nation and muslims.
We have the honour of presenting for you all at Paklinks his personal appreciation and a rare never before see picture of him, from his own collection, signed by him for Paklinks. He is a person concerned about unity, social awareness, cooperation, harmony and social welfare and was encouraging upon learning of the Paklinks community and sends a message of enhancing such social forums, offline as well, among Pakistani youth and elderly alike.
Here is a beautiful picture of the nation’s great hero, taken in 1965 after the war at the PAF Base Sargodha, the base from which he took on to the skies to defend his motherland and write history.
