sharing of dukh sukh. That culture prevailed before Radio and TV. Now, people living in same house don’t have time to share their feelings with each other.
This dera / chopal culture was the place where all our folklore (story telling, playing music instruments, etc) originated / flourished.

How many Mujra you actually attended in real life? I heard prostitutes loved to sing Ghalib and Meer in old days mujras.

No. As mentioned, after introduction of TV this culture gradually vanished. We just heard few things from our elders.

of course, in old days, Domnis had good taste for literature...aaj kal kii Munnii yaa Sheila jaisii nahiiN huaa kartii thiiN! ;)

Nothing special.
But there are so many books and research on this culture in Sindhi culture, which tells that it was like a literary platform in rural areas. Besides, it was a place for catarsis. The tradition is alive in varied form on sufi shrines.

Dheras as far as I know know are areas where males gather to receive male guests and have male talks etc.
Some keep their animal there aswell.
