I have been raised in U.S. all my life. I have been taught to be proud of my Pakistani heritage, culture and tradition. Of course, I’m not going to say I’m the perfect Muslim (but I do my best). So Muslim first, Pakistani next.
I went through a phase where all my friends were Pakistani and I was even taught to strongly dislike Indians. But I could not see the logic in this.
I came to have a lot of Indian friends as well. Hindu and Muslim. I was looked down upon by my Pakistani friend for doing this. It even bothered them that I was friends with the Indian Muslims.
I just can’t believe that it’s such a double standard. I can only assume that since people are brought up different and HATE is something that’s taught, not genetic.
While I still continue to have Pakistani friends, I still have Indian friends. I don’t think that we can judge people by where they are from, what religion they follow or what they eat. I thought that we, as Muslims, are taught to tolerate and respect other religions and cultures. Yes, I’m aware of the whole India Vs. Pakistan issue but that’s back home. When there’s an Indian and Pakistani raised all their life in America, should these stereotypes continue? And besides, if we go back not more than 2 or 3 generations, aren’t we all the same anyways?
I’m sure someone has an opinion on this. Let’s hear it.
hmm.....there r quite a few ignorant ppl (even on g-shup) who think just cuz somethin is remotely related to india ..it has to be hated....whatever! humanity comes before anythin.....no one is a true blue 100% paki....our per dada's and daadis are from india...so should we hate them????
ignorant ppl...that's all....aur waisay bhi...how is india destroyin and average paki's life????

shazad I'm glad someone else also sees things with their own eyes.
I dunno. You can not really reason with bigots. It's a shame some of these people seem so intelligent and open minded at times and then you turn around and they start damning an entire race or religion based on the actions of a few. They claim some kinda superiority and cry about being victimised by others who are guilty of the exact same mentality they have!? I don't think they even relaise they are exactly the same, and that's in no way a good thing.
well this rivalry is not only in Pakis, it is on the otherside(the indians), well i have also lived in neutral place i.e DUBAI, and gone thru all this, and i have friend frm india as well, and had a nice time, but when it comes to nation they reallly dont agreeon their negative points, where as sometimes we do, well thats is true ke we cant simply judge on frm who is frm where, khair, it depends frm person to person!!!!
I don't have a problem with Indians> Half of my family still lives in India. But i can tell you one thing i have seen the treatment of Muslims in India and its not good talk about 4th class citizens. I guess my point is tell them about this post and they will totally disagree with you.
Well i agree with junoonie ! I too am from dubai and had numerous Indian friends and was really open minded when came to making friends and didn't bring our nations differences in between but they do too. Well i know of many Indians who will ignore you or won't mix with you if you are Pakistani and this has happened to other people too. But then again all of them are not like that.
