oh please don't pour the oil down the drain, the grease build up can clog the pipes.. I have seen the grease traps and I will never and ever recommend pouring oil down in your kitchen sink. I have even heard of sewer backups due to the grease buildup in pipes, i m certain that must have come from kitchen sinks too.
Check with your DPW, some transfer stations have a day dedicated to the collection of cooking oil, batteries, electronics etc.
Everyone pouring down a few cups here and there every month adds up into gallons at one point.. no wonder most towns and cities have banned garbage disposal because people believe that letting the trash go in sometimes will not do any damage.. it damages the town water supply and sewer system.

I hugely agree .. and that is the reason i try to save oil and many other things as much as possible.
