Declaring right on the dot

In the ongoing Pak/Ban 1st Test, Pakistan declared their innings at 594/5 as soon as Younis Khan reached exactly 200. Shouldn’t the captain give a 4-5 run margin before declaring, in case there has been an error/discrepancy by the scorer? It would be a shame to leave the batsman stranded at 199 because of a scoring error. I remember such an instance when in the 1999 tour of India, Inzimam scored a 100 in a side match, and as soon as he got the 100, the innings was declared. It turned out later that the scorecard on the ground had an error, and Inzimam had actually scored 99.

Re: Declaring right on the dot

Oooo Bhai Allah Allah Karr Key tou Misbah Ney Inning declare Ki Hey....Now you wanted him to continue even longer?

Re: Declaring right on the dot

I agree, there is quite a lot of time, he could go on for few more overs.

Re: Declaring right on the dot

That's a very valid point and I totally agree with you..

+2

Misbah could have and should have waited an over or two before declaring. In any case Bangla look dead and buried and another 5-10 minutes w'd have made zilch difference to the outcome of the game

Re: Declaring right on the dot

Oh yarro give it a rest. If he had not declared than we would have been complaining why didn’t he declare. He did the right thing. If an error creeps up than tough luck.

BTW hats off to Younis, what a player.

Re: Declaring right on the dot

totally agreed. BD were expecting declaration. Once he delays for only say 2 overs may have caused much psychological destruction.

Re: Declaring right on the dot

Well those things are so rare never saw such errors currently.......

Come on its good they declared finish it tomorrow and u have one more day to rest
