Decision-making delays and glitches: reasons and outcomes

It’s been a week since polls. And it’s also been a week since clear announcements of winners.
Is it normal to delay big decisions and announcements like PM, CMs, few important portfolios like Foreign, Defence, Finance?

Why are the leaders so reluctant and undecided in key decisions and announcements? It’s not a good sign, it doesn’t portray confidence and unanimity.

If such basic, important and significant matters are taking this long and decisions are being delayed unnaturally, there obviously are some reasons and inside glitches or friction that we can’t judge right now.

How would this pattern work, when it continues later on for every other major and not so major political/national decisions after the govt is formed, which will include glitches and friction added by the coalition parties?

Re: Decision-making delays and glitches: reasons and outcomes

Caesar bhaijan. I don't believe the delay is that unusual. However, because the pre-election rhetoric was so anti-Musharaf by PPP and PML (N) that they have cornered themselves, and now trying to come out of this situation which is taking sometime.

I have been watching the most senior PPP leaders like Fahim, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Zardari. I have noticed that over the last one week they are becoming increasingly careful in their comments about President Musharaf and even conciliatory, while all the time they are distancing themselves from confrontational policies. For example, yesterday Zardari came out nd said that there will be an alliance between PPP, PML (N), ANP, MQM and JUI. The latter two parties are generally regarded as pro-Musharaf and I have no doubt that in a week or so time he may also rope in elements of PML (Q).

I see, in that Musharraf fired at them an unexpected googly by holing free, fair polls :D

Youre right on that. But i do feel that in-party harmony is a bit un-present on issues like who'll be the front men. And for some reason I think thats because Zardari wants to be extra cautious. If it were the other leaders or Benazir on a distant leadership stint calling the shots I'm sure the decisions on Fahim wouldve been finalized so far. I also wonder if the delay is indicating lack of agreement, trust etc or just maximum use of time available. In that case too, isnt it a sign of vulnerability, particularly on Zardari's part, making him extra cautious and re emphasizing he's king. Somewhat the same is happening within PMLN.
