I need lots of info about booking venues + timing in Punjab.
We are having a wedding with a small # of guest. Around 125 for mehndi and 250 max. for barat. We were told that it’s better to get a private venue i.e. someone’s house or farm house to do the events since it will be cheaper AND we won’t have to finish the events by 10. However, the events will be obviously outside in a lawn.
Now my questions are do we really have to end the mehndi event by 10? That just sounds insane to me. Can’t we pay extra to have it open longer or does the police really come?
The other thing, IF we do go the private house/lawn route the wedding planner is saying it’ll cost 800,000 to get the marquee to our city for 2 days event. That’s just the price for renting a marquee for 2 days!!! Not including the rent for the venue, food, decor, or anything else.
Where exactly in Punjab are you? Do a little more research for the wedding planner and marquee etc - 8 lacs is stupidly expensive. I'm getting married in pindi/isb next year and the most I was quoted for ALL décor for mehndi and barat was in the range of 3-4 lacs.
In Multan. According to the planner the marquee will need to be brought in from Lahore so for transportation + rental it is 8 lakhs for 2 days and like you said that is insanely stupid + expensive. We were thinking of doing the mehndi in a private farmhouse or something like that. That way we can extend it beyond the 10 PM limit, but to pay 8 lakh for the marquee is beyond stupid. :\
U cant extend beyond 10 at halls or marquees...they start switching off lights... They have to be strict because they might end up losing their license so paying them to extend time won't work...
At least..that's the way in Lahore... Might be different in Multan because have heard they don't follow timings as strictly in smaller cities... You'll have to do your research.. Ask around for those who might bend a little.... I will suggest for baraat atleast that you go for a venue that enforces the 10pm rule.. It's wayy less tiring for the bride.... I was so glad that we were done by 10
As for mehndi... When is your wedding actually? Cos depending on weather you may not even need a full marquee..
Mine was a private function as well but we didn't put up a marquee on our lawn.. Just the side wall thingy.. It actually looked really good with lights hanging in the trees...
Or you could go for the good old fashioned shamianas...with those you may not get chandeliers hanging from roof but if the stage and centerpieces and everything else is spot on, it won't matter.
Oh actually we were thinking of doing a mehndi at a private house. That way we can extend beyond the 10 PM limit. If that is possible or not is another thing.
The wedding is in Oct in Multan so most likely it won't be rainy season, BUT you never know. All of this is just so confusing when you are sitting so far away!

well just for an info, its a slang that they have to brought all the stuff from lahore. please remember that multan is a big developed city now and many good event decorators have direct approach to multan city. I personally attended functions in multan which goes beyond 10pm timing (like 1 or 2am late night) with more then 6 dishes. you just need to pay extra 15 to 25 grands per hour after 10pm timing for their generators etc. pricing depends upon the decor/stage /lighting you choose. there are some decors only which are 16000 per head (just seating arrangement, no food included). i dont know for what they are charging 8 lakhs for a marquee in those timings but you definitely need to check out the details of those.
