Re: Dec. 10: Malala going to recieve Nobel Peace prize
Maybe that will change. There is lot of misinformation about her online. The media instead of highlighting her achievements just feeds into people’s worries/fears/anxieties about her. Maybe when they come to see the good work she will do in next few years they will change their mind.
One can only hope. I am proud of her as a desi. People say she does not live in Pakistan so how can she do anything living in UK. You don’t have to live in a country to contribute to it. Hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis living abroad contribute to their country through fundraising and charities.
According to Malala fund they have projects helping children in Pakistan, Jordan, Kenya and Nigeria.
In Pakistan the Malala fund is providing education and communities of support to girls in exploitative domestic child labour.
In Nigeria the Malala fund supports safe spaces for school girls and mentoring for girls married young and who did not have chance to go to school. She also supports the bring our girls back campaign.
In Jordan the Malala fund has started informal education programs for children who have dropped out of school
In Kenya the Malala fund works with partners to provide funding for school expansion and infrastructure.
If you check this link you can see the photos of Malala fund and Malala helping Syrian refugees and girls in Kenya and Nigeria.
So she is highlighting issues faced by females in many other countries and in developing countries worldwide. support “safe space” projects for schoolgirls and provide mentoring and support to girls who were married young and have no opportunity to go to school.
