Death with Dignity

AKA Assisted Suicide ..

In the State of Washington, the proposal was called “Death with Dignity” proposal.

Under the Washington proposal, two doctors, each making an assessment independent of the other’s, would have to determine that a patient had less than six months to live before that patient could receive a lethal prescription.

On Nov 4rth, I voted no to that. I am not sure why, not that I regret about it but I still could not justify. It was just my first reaction and I checked on NO.

What would you have voted and why?

Re: Death with Dignity

No.................. because its unethical to kill someone purposely.............. natural death is something else ,but none has right to do that ....................
Being a human we should strive till ones death to save him ,and should not give up......

Re: Death with Dignity

No. Being a Muslim I can never condone a suicide. Doctors should not worry about prolonging the lives of such patients but they should try to make their remaining days as comfortable as possible. Whenever they go , they go nothing can be done about it. The basic premise in these kind of issues is that the person is in pain and is suffering due to that pain , but that is not true anymore , there are many kind of pain killing medications available to ease any kind of pain.

Re: Death with Dignity

Ayite brother if i were u i would also suffer from the same crap, whether i should have voted Yes or NO.

But As a muslim we should see wat Islam's point of view is on it. Assisted suicide and euthanasia almost fall in the same category. Quran has its clear ruling on suicide, but on the issue of assisted death and euthanasia i dont think that there was ever a proper IJTIHAAD done by the scholars, if there was m totally unaware of it as a student of Islam. but the point of view of most scholars on assisted death is that its totally haram.

but on euthanasia scholars of FIQH beleive that if a number of doctors believe that there is no hope for the patient to survive and his condition is really bad then it could be permissible to stop his medication or remove him from life support so that he could have his natural death, but by no means he could be killed by a poisionous injection or medication, there has to be a natural death process.

Allah knows best. everything right in this post is by Allah and everything wrong is by me.

no brother

in euthanasia doctors and ur relatives decide that u should die or no, but in dignity death or assisted suicide u decide that u r gona die cuz u dona wana live in pain or without some body part.
