DEATH - what happens afterwards

Lately I have been thinking about DEATH! No, not as in going for suicide but the process of death and what happens after all your body organs including brain have totally switched off. From Islamic POV we all know and believe that, that is the start of a new life, our souls move to new realms - the Aalam e Burzukh. But physically speaking, what are the feelings - does the deceased has any feelings of existence? Is the person in state of abeyance? Is there total absolute darkness and a sense of nothingness?

It boggles my mind that despite equipping us with an enormous amount of intelligence and capabilities which enable us to reach out and touch the pinnacles of brilliance in our scientific achievements and understanding in every aspect of human life on earth, Allah Subhanu Wa'Talah has firmly put down a concrete layered "STOP" sign to our attempts at gaining ANY understanding, data, experience or exchange of information from that different realm.

That’s not true. The stop sign exists only in our own imagination. Allah has not put it. In Islam, we’re not only free but encouraged to learn, read, gain in knowledge, attain highest levels of spirituality, get in touch with other realms & dimensions. There is so much knowledge to seek & many other worlds to experience. And any one at any age can do it.

IMO, after being in a state of abeyance for sometime, the soul is free to move without the body. Actually, it’s the same person we knew in real life but without the body & physical needs of human body. We can’t see them offcourse because they’re out of their physical bodies & in a dimension our eyes can’t see. They can see us. They communicate with us through dreams & other nonverbal language. We all have experienced that at one time or the other.

Well the Holy Quran describes death it is like sleep!

**78:9 (Asad)and We have made your SLEEP [a symbol of] death **

and if you lived a Good Life! then when you wake up after the sleep it will be Judgement Day!

This is not what I was talking about. I already mentioned Aalam e Burzukh and that there’s whole new life there. But spirituality or parapsychology is different than physical science, does not provide any hard evidence and is only related to an individual’s spiritual ascendance, hence observations and experiences vary according to the individual’s degree of attunement and open to interpretations. Parapsychology is not taken as data based scientifically established facts to be used as a curriculum to understand or study the life after death.

Today we have the technology to capture light that originated billions of years ago thus getting us closer to the beginning of time and get better understanding about the origin of universe. Likewise we can carbon-date fossils to try to recreate how life was millions of years ago. In Particle Physics, we could build mathematical models that predicted about the presence of sub-atomic particles like Quarks, Higgs boson and later on proved their presence through experiments and data.

Yet, despite all these humongous scientific achievements, there is no empirical data, not even a tiny trickle, no well established channels of communication to show what a deceased person/soul goes through in other realm. Once the sensory signals in our body die, our understanding of life in this and other realms stop right there and that is what I meant saying Allah Ta’lah has put a barrier in our quest to connect with the realm of hereafter through physical senses.

Its a very interesting topic. I often think about it as well except not being so religious I think in a different term. And that usually is, if I die today or tomorrow, who is going to remember me and for how long? My mind usually answers it in a reverse thumb meaning nobody.

From all the observations I can clearly say that only the immediate family gets deeply effected. Rest of the reatives/friends etc had an effect of such a small span. The world moves on so quickly.

O well, pardon the interruption. I'm sure its a topic of another day

@Raamis There are always exceptions to all rules so I give you a very concrete example where you stated : Allah Subhanu Wa’Talah has firmly put down a concrete layered “STOP” sign to our attempts at gaining ANY understanding, **"data, experience or exchange of information from that different realm.*"

The Example being our Holy Prophet PBUH reaching out and warning the Governor of Egypt of the two grave robbers as stated below:*****

***An attempt to steal the body of the Prophet was made in the year 557H (1164CE). They were two Christian men disguised as Moroccans who claimed that they were from Andalusia. The two rented a house not far from the Sacred Chamber where the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) was buried and began to dig a tunnel from within to the Sacred Chamber. During the day they were found in Prophet?s Mosque and visiting al-Baqi` graveyard. Sultan Nuruddin Mahmud ibn Zanki saw a dream in which the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) pointed to two men of blond hair and said: ?Mahmud, save me from them.? The Sultan woke up in panic, said his prayers, and went back to sleep. But the dream was repeated three times. He then summoned his minister Jamaluddin Al-Mawsili and directed him to prepare for a journey to Madina. The Sultan and his minister left for Madina in a large caravan which one historian, Majduddin Al-Matari, said comprised of one thousand camels. They crossed the distance from Syria to Madina in 16 days. The Sultan went directly to the Prophet?s Mosque, performed prayers and sat there, bewildered at what to do next. The minister asked the Sultan if he could recognize the two men if he saw them, and when the Sultan replied in the affirmative, the minister summoned the citizens and asked them to present themselves so that the Sultan could bestow alms on them.

Among all those who came to receive the alms, the Sultan could not identify the two men. On being informed that two Moroccan men were the only ones who had not come to collect alms, he ordered that they be brought forth, whereupon he immediately identified them. Leaving them there the Sultan went to the house where the two men lived but could find nothing to incriminate them until he found large sums of money. Continuing the search he stumbled upon a piece of wood. Lifting it he saw the beginning of a tunnel leading to the direction of the Sacred Chamber. The two men admitted the crime. Sultan Nuruddin ordered the digging of a ditch around the Sacred Chamber and lead to be cast inside the ditch to guard against any future attempt to penetrate the walls.

There is NO Scientific Explanation of this event but it is an undisputed Historical FACT!***

Raamis,

Yes, to experience through physical human body / 6 senses, there may be a stop but not through other human qualities such as dreams / intiuition. But no scientific explaination of both. I think If there were any Muslim scientists also interested in spirituality & to discover the outer body / after death experience scientifically & if there were any first world Muslim countries providing resources & research facilities over this, by now, there would have been numerous discoveries scientifically on the subject. But since there are not (I don't know of any such Muslim scientist or country) who could, I guess this subject is over looked? Many years ago, I read about some discovery that the last part a human soul leaves of the body is gut. That's what the research said. But didn't find anything more to read in depth apart from that. Yes read about NASA's time travel machines which few people from the world experienced but lost their minds because the amount of information gathered through their travels to the past & the future & then back to present was too much for their brain. I read that some lost their memory & some were faced by other psychological conditions. There is strictly some sort of criteria followed in choosing who will get to travel on those machines. But since I read all that info on somebody's blog with no official public confirmation all of that happened or happens at NASA. Not sure about the authenticity of all that info. There's alot more I've read about the things NASA researching on but since they're kept strictly secret & common public is not allowed & discouraged to know (I don't know why NASA would want world's people to remain ignorant about the latest scientific discoveries about the universe), I don't know whether all that info of others personal blogs is reliable.

Couldn’t agree more.
