Sarah Maple, a controversial artist from Sussex has received a death threat after her images depicting Muslim women went on show.
Watch the clip and share your thoughts on the art and the issue. Also share your opinion on what would be a peaceful way of protesting such art and artist?
Death threats are taking it a bit far however I do find some of her work distasteful, especially the portrait of her wearing a hijab but no other clothes.
the host is questioning whether an artist, whose art that is legitimately displayed in a gallery should receive death threats
here lies the problem. they are changing the perspective of the public by using the word legitimately, and diverting it only to the issue of the death threat.
If they attack islam, they call it justice
If they get attacked, they call it t3rr0r1$m

Islam is an ideology, the artist is a human being. There's no real comparison there. You can say anything you want about an ideology, and people's feelings may get hurt. If you throw out death threats and act on them, you've committed murder.
The girl is a legitimate artist, regardless of whether or not you like her work or her message. Her talent isn't on trial here, it's that of those who are demanding her death because their sensitivities have been "violated."
everyone is responsible for his/her own actions. if she is killed by some lunatic then he/she will be punished accordingly. fair enough. unless you question holocaust as an artist... then there is no fair justice. you'll die a dog's death.
you're not getting what im saying.. i aint saying that you should kill them
im just saying that its public knowledge that in the current climate, you gotta be careful with how you address or do anything related to islam - especially if its going to hit the media
and if you know that its a sensitive area, and you still decide to put your head in the lions mouth etc etc.. read my prev post etc
if you put your head in a lions mouth, expect to have it bitten off
..and then file a complaint of how you was only 'testing out new grounds' and that your actions were totally harmless
We should expect that in a nation where free speech is paramount, people would follow the law and not threaten others with death when they exercise their right.
