“A man sinned greatly against himself, and when death came to him he charged his sons, saying: When I have died, burn me, then crush me and scatter [my ashes] into the sea, for, by Allah, if my Lord takes possession of me, He will punish me in a manner in which He has punished no one [else]. So they did that to him. Then He said to the earth: Produce what you have taken- and there he was! And He said to him: What induced you to do what you did? No matter how one dies, it won't change the pain which a human gets when his soul separates the body, other than the specific cases mentioned in the hadith, like for shaheed it is like an ant has bitten him, and also it is less painful for pious people infront of Allah.
even the most normal death in ones bed is very painful - i read somewhere that even the prophet mohammad had to go through such pain - and i am very scared of dying, i am scared of seeing the grim reaper coming in front of me all of a sudden and who knows he might be looking very and deadly - i am scared of what might happen to me in the grave - all the hisaab kitaab and the punishments - i am scared because i really dont know what might happen to me and my soul and whether i would feel everything like i can right now; otherwise i am happy to go back to my Allah who has created me...
i read all of the posts....... ppl got different opinion...but one thing is common..... Fear of death from basic teachingss.......and why our basic teaching teach us like that.......tha'll always be a big Q???? PPl dont realise.....we use our five senses in our daily life....and on basis of those senses we are imaginning the pains,suffering and fate of death...... That is totally a wrong approch..... nobody knows how it feels to die...cuz nobody has ever came back from a grave to give us an insight....... its all theories of beliefs......
i'm not scared from death...... the only thing worries me about death...is missing stuff i'll miss the company of my friends.....i'll miss good food and i'll miss all those activities which i enjoy..... but the catch is i dono if i'm gonna miss it or not cuz i'm feeling like tha right now.....

I think it depends on your belief about afterlife.
If you believe that this life is the end....then obviously you'll be afraid of death....and it depends on you what fear you choose for yourself.
Fear of pain...
fear of never seeing your loved ones again....
or fear of never be seen....
fear of never having good food even ' food '....
fear of never watching your favourite TV show again ....etc etc
When one goes through the process of death be it sudden death or laying on a bed or what ever, all the hidden or unknown stuff becomes visible. The person sees the angel of death and I wonder if a non believer or an atheist at that moment realizes that he should have believed in Allah :swt:.
I know after the person dies he/she finds out the reality. But I am trying to imagine the moment a person is about to die and Allah :swt: makes everything visible for him/her like the angel of death and other stuff what ever is there for him/her to see and at that very moment that person realizes what he/she has missed. His/Her whole life video runs in front of his/her eyes in seconds. The person sees his/her soul leaving the body. While his/her soul is being taken away he/she still sees this world but also realizes the reality of death.
Must be very scary and helpless at the same time plus the fact there is no other option, no more chances. The chapter of your fate has been closed and you have to pay for the consequence.
But for a believer and specially the one who has been following the right path it must be very exciting for him/her and get ready for the reward.
