I have read different unreliable accounts of the illness of Prophet Mohammad before his death.
Do any one knows of reliable reference as to what disease was he suffering from before his death and how was it treated?
Belief is not what mind possesses, it is what possesses the mind!
I got no sources, but I have heard that his food was poisoned by a jewish lady which caused our beloved Prophet to die. I also would love to get my hands on a hadith that explains this or any other cause for His(pbuh) death.
I also read that this jews woman poisoned him after Ghazwa Uhud(correct me if wrong).
becuase many jews were killed in this fight.
Was it slow poisoning?
Some people believe he knew unseen, this proves that he did not. If he knew, he would have never taken the poisoned milk or what ever it was. But ye Allah ka kaam hei, he knows best what was behind all this.

12th Iman - is that the Iman who is hiding in a cave in the arab peninsular, the expected Mahdi, who will slain Abu Bakr & Umar, may Allah be pleased with them? Do you guyz believe that all 'Imams' were infaliable?
The best colour for the eyes to gaze at is Green. It ahs been related by Anas that of all the colours, the most pleasing to the Prophet, may Allah be bless him & grant him peace, was Green. Allah states:
'...and they shall wear green robes of fine silk and crocade...' Qu'ran 18:30
Alshah, a two months ago you people were debating with me that he knew unseen and I was telling you that he received Wahi from allah and that is how he knew what he knew. But now you are contradicting your own words.
It is totally wrong to say that he died of poison. as far as I know he died of a natural death. However it is known that he had high temperature few days before the death and till the time of death.
It is quoted that due to severe weakness because of temperature he use to faint and when he returns to his concious he use to perform "Wazo" and perform the prayer.
Knowledge of the unseen is with Allah (swt) only. This is a belief on which there is no doubt.
I do not know of the post you are referring to; however, if your understanding is that the prophet (pbuh) gets knowledge of the future by the permission of Allah (swt), and only when Allah (swt) chooses to reveal His favors upon his beloved messenger, Allah (swt) Who is the only source of Ilm-e-Ghaib, then we are in agreement.

Brother Insaniyat;
No one knows for sure whether the prophet (pbuh) was poisoned or not. It is only believed that this may be the case. The truth lies with Allah (swt) alone.
Yes, alshah, we are in agreement. ONLY allah has the knowledge of UNSEEN and he reveals it to whomever he wishes to. No one else knows the knowledge of unseen except ALLAH, and that includes shia imaams with all due respect to them.
okay, this is an excerpt from a more detailed account of our Beloved Prophet(saw)'s death froma really good site: http://www.prophetmuhammed.org/
**BEGINNING OF THE ILLNESS **
The sickness of the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) began shortly before the end of Safar.(84) Late in one night, the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) went to the cemetery of Madinah, known as Jannatul Baqi, where he prayed for the dead and returned to his house. The next morning his ailment began. (85)
‘Aisha (radiallahu 'anhaa) relates that when the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) returned from the Jannatul Baqi he was suffering from a headache and was muttering, “O my head.” The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “Nay, O my head! ‘Aisha, O my head!” (86) His pain increased. Then, in the house of Maymuna the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) called his wives (radiallahu 'anhun) and asked their permission to be nursed in the house of ‘Aisha (radiallahu 'anhaa). All of them agreed and the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) came out walking supported by Fad b. ‘Abbas and ‘Ali (radiallahu 'anhumaa). He had a cloth bound on his head and his feet were dragging as he came to the house of ‘Aisha (radiallahu 'anhaa). (Bukhari, Chap. Mard-un-Nabi)
‘Aisha (radiallahu 'anhaa) tells that during the illness from which the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) never recovered he told her, “Aisha, I still feel pain from the food I took at Khaybar, now I feel my aorta being cut because of it."
Thanks much hk for providing reference and quote.
THe description of his illness as quoted by you fits the description of acute meningitis.
If this is true then theory of poisoning seems baseless although it is very much possible that Prophet Muhammad himself felt that his illness was related to previous poisoning.
hk........thanks for the link but I could not find the area where you quoted the hadith from. However I will check the Bukhari for validation of such hadith beacuse I never heard and until now I always belived that he (PBUH) died natural death.
