Do not fix your hopes on your health and do not laugh away life.
Remember how they walked and now their joints lie separately, and the tongue with which they talked lightly is eaten away by worms.
Do not sit idle for indeed death is seeking you [Hasan al-Basri]
Remember your contemporaries who have passed away and were your age.
Remember the honours and fame they earned, the high posts they held and the beautiful bodies they possessed. Today all of them are turned to dust. They have left orphans and widows behind them, their wealth is being wasted, and their houses turned into ruins. No sign is of them is left today, their wealth is being wasted and their houses turned into ruins. No sign of them is left today and they lie in dark holes underneath the earth. Picture their faces before your minds eye and ponder.
Well, if we realize (by the grace and mercy of Allah (SWT)) the value of life and how quickly death is approaching us then after we move to our graves, such deeds would inshaAllah brightened up each single day in the grave.* when no one else among our relatives and friends could do so*
Sorry brother if you feel uncomfortable. Whenever I read such stories I feel like sharing it with others through every source available to me. May Allah (swt) put barakah in them and make them a source of guidence for all of us. Ameen!
What changes did you find in yourself after reading this?
I realized that time for me is too little to waste in this opportunity which is given to me only once in infinite infinite and INFINTE millenniums.
Death of our relatives and friends is a warning for us, that one day your breath would also be broken apart by the angel of death, then you would beg for another chance in order to do one more good deed, but no more chances, only judgement of what one has already done and rewards / punishments would be given accordingly.
May Allah (swt) have mercy upon us and guide us towards the path Allah wants us to follow
JazakAllah khair everyone for the kind words of encouragement.
Prophet Sulayman PBUH who was one of the most powerful kings. He could speak to birds and other animals subhanAllah. One day he had a visitor visit him and this visitor started looking one of the King's servants (i think it was his servant?) up and down. When the visitor left, the servant asked Prophet Sulayman who was this visitor and why had he looked at me so strangely? Prophet Sulayman replied "He was Malik al-Mawt (Angel of Death). The servant became frightened so he told Prophet Sulayman to send him to a far away place, up in the mountains. So the Prophet PBUH ordered the wind to take him there. Later on, the Angel returned. Prophet Sulayman asked him "Why were you looking at my servant up and down?" The Angel replied "Allah swt ordered me to take his life in a far away mountain, and I was confused as to why he was here and not on that mountain. I still went there the same time Allah swt had ordered me to go, found him and took his life."
Lesson: You can't run away from death, it will find you.
Say: "The death from which you flee will truly overtake you: then you will be sent back to the Knower of things secret and open: and He will tell you (the truth of) the things that you did!" (Surat al-Jumu'ah: 8).
