I always use dear...coz everyone is dear until proven otherwise.

We always use dear at work emails. we are stodgy, old fashioned and completely formal.

We start all work emails with "Word be born".

i never use salutation or greeting in any of my work emails. i start noting down my query or comments straight away. but for emails to the customers, always, a dear.
