Dear Musharraf

Re: Dear Musharraf

They are taking over positions of leadership in a society that honestly doesn't want them. How can you say they have no interest in statecraft?

If they just wanted to bite the hands of their former handlers, you'd see them at the doorsteps of the gov't in Islamabad. No, they choose to impose a law and leadership upon people that is illegitimate in that

  1. People do not want it

  2. There are human rights abuses going on under the guise of "shariah"

  3. Their shariah is a lie - it is no sharia at all. Has nothing to do with Islam. Has entirely to do with controlling people, so that they can get more foot soldiers for their war in Afghanistan.

Re: Dear Musharraf

There is a third side. Neoconspeak only works once...at least for a while.

Re: Dear Musharraf

Because they simply show no interest in it. They want pliant co-operation from the people, so they behave more like occupiers with no interest in fostering any kind of civil society. Decrees for women to stay inside and a ban on shaving ) doesn't really telegraph their intent...or so I think.

That you have armed illiterates dispensing 'justice', sans jurist or judge or any establishment of a legal framework, is telling. This is very uncommon for Islamist movements, which almost always have a paralel social/legal infrastructure to the regime they are fighting against. That you see no attempt to make inroads and overtures to the business community is also telling. Even the Somali Islamists, who were as rural and unsophisticated as they came, managed to do that. The Taliban also followed this model, and were welcomed for it. They went afoul only among people who weren't ethnically pashtoon, and opposed them because of it.

They're not there for the long haul. Their concern is elsewhere. Petty vengeance? Are they baiting the army? Are they diverting attention for actions elsewhere?

They wouldn't make it. And there's no easy escape from there. If they wanted a base of operations, even if it is temporary, it only seemed natural they'd pick a soft target. They will soon go away. They have no choice. If they stay, they have no sense.

Also, in a sense, they are doing that with suicide bombings in urban areas. Not exactly the same scenario as what's going on in the north, but it's related...

Good debating ...

Message for All ..

Why is it that people dis Shari'ah by presenting the examples of reactionary forces? Religious extremism is formed due to the extremism from the opposite corner. You folk who have no tolerance for Islam are extremists!

The best way to tackle Islamic extremism is to be truly Islamic, not to start waging war on those extremists by toting secularism that is not dousing the flame that is fuelling it. When this happens time and again and so by military leaders one just wonders that it doesn't half justify military involvement.

Create your enemy justify your existence - that is the essence of secular armies

Re: Dear Musharraf

I am sorry to say this, whichever country you disgrace; “I mean! Probably you are a national of Canada right now!!!!” Would you go outright abusing that country/army because the leadership is corrupt?

The problem with Pakis like you is you people don’t know where to draw the line when National solidarity is concerned….

You are willing to sell away Pakistan, just because you don’t agree with Musharraf. Army is keeping this country together.

And let me tell you one more thing, a person who swears his life to the flag is much less corrupt than the person who does not…

BTW: Just look at your corrupt nation too, words like “Democracy” only work in countries who don’t have a self righteous, religious extremist, illiterate , and hypocrite nation.

Re: Dear Musharraf

Coud you provide me some source on your 99%? Not that I disagre with extremist killings are out numbering the May 12th incident.

Re: Dear Musharraf

Who is not patriotic enough to understand a Army is needed? But needed for some purposes only, not for ruling governments. Dictatorship maybe successful as along as America has It's blessing. On the very day Uncle Sam turns his back to us....we are ashes to ashes dust to dust.

And for those who point fingers at ex-pats:
It's Pakistani, not Paki.
