Dear Admin

Just to reinforce what I said earlier. Please make sure that none of the threads are started under my nick if they are not started by me. This has happened twice now and isn’t really something I appreciate. Thank you.

You are referring to Eid and Ramadan Traditions where the intent was to discuss family traditions at this time of the muslim calender. Your response in that thread was clearly a deviation from the main topic, and was split into Ramadan or Ramzaan as you raised a linguistic query about the word itself, which had nothing to do with discussion on family traditions to celebrate this period.

If a reply to a post clearly deviates from the main topic under discussion, then it will be split from the main thread. It can either be removed completely (i.e. deleted) or kept as a valid discussion as a new thread (especially if it has some related responses as well). In your case it was kept as a separate discussion because other members had spent their time giving serious responses to this question.

This is done to ensure that discussions don’t go off in tangents. If you don’t wish it to happen then don’t deviate from the main topic under discussion, or start a new thread yourself.

Dear Admin,

As always, you sound so cute.

Now, going back to the topic at hand, I don't have any problem how many times you split a friggin' thread. Split it hundred times if you like but don't use my name for it.

hehe...go tell em!

Roman,

once a thread is split, I don't think there is any option to start the new thread under any different name other than the person whose initial post forms the new thread.

The only alternative (other than leaving it as it was) is to move the split topic into review. In the end I thought it turned out quite well with a decent discussion about pronunciation but if you're not happy you can always ask for the new topic to be closed.

hskhan,

You are managing to earn yourself a reputation. At least with me. Ask around and you'll find out that this is not entirely a good thing to do.
