What to do now? as far as I know we are discouraged from taking any kind of medicines during pregnancy ..
Are flu capsules safe to consume?
I am thinking of having some joshanda .. got a few packets left that we got from Pakistan last time .. is it safe to consume during pregnancy? anyone knows?
i had the mother of flu's and cough when i was pregnant with a dollop of ashtma.
i was prescribed an inhaler, and asked to take panadol. flu is a virus so you cant really take any medication that will heal it. just have to wait it out. not the easiest but oh well..
something way better than joshanda is camomille tea. with honey. i drank it twice a day ... immeidately used to open up my nasal passage.
Joshanda is fine to take. Dont even go near the flu repellents/ anti allergics. This is what I did, to repel my flu and it sedated the baby
Joshanda is said to be “garam” but I think its fine to take it now when initial three months have gone by safely. I have been having this flu for a few days (weather change ) but I am ignoring it and just avoid anything that would aggravate it. flu takes its needed time and goes away itself. Taking medicines rather make it worse so better avoid anything if possible. If sneezing or runny nose is bothering you, you might see into sniffing Vicks but after making it sure its safe for the baby. Google it and you’d know. Vicks makes me feel better in flu anyway.
fresh oranges...vit c helps, i did get down with flu couple times, though i was told it is okay to take certains meds but i decided not to. oranges, steam, and vicks helped me.
I kept getting flu when I was pregnant. Severe too. You really can't take much medications. Use steam and nasal spray.. Gargles works to clear throat. Other then that just eat good and rest.
Khawa , I already take camomile tea almost every day .. since its getting cold here I feel I need hot drinks almost every few hours , so instead of going to the regular tea I take mint tea / camomile tea etc
Mirage, can you ask your mom or anyone else if they took any joshanda during the pregnancies? I have asked many women in Pakistan no body seems to know anything ! Even though joshanda is used in almost every home in Pakistan
My problem with flu is usually my ears .. they hurt like anything due to inflamation and now that I am fighting and ear infection as well since the last one month , its gonna hurt even more during flu
If u have N infection I'm sure u can be prescribed something. I drank joshanda plenty of.times during pregnancy. Dr here didn't think it was harmful...
Aww I didnt know your ear is hurting too. That must feel so bad.
Take joshanda once, and see for its effects. One time SHOULD NOT hurt. Saying this with conviction because my doctor told me its okay to take joshanda in pregnancy. Still, NEVER overdose.
I just rang my doctor and asked further and she says:
Take steam of salted water
Can take honey in luke warm water
And never expose your head or ears bare to open air/cold.
These should help.
Thanks guys , will try with joshanda once a day initially … maybe instead of taking one whole cup i will divide it into two warm drinks
Allergic to honey , so wont be able to do that :hinna:
GTG , its actually flu .. will be going to the GP soon but just wanted to know beforehand how you guys managed during pregnancy .. you know the GP’s here are mostly crap ..
